Anson County woman celebrates $200,000 top prize win

Brittany Williams of Wadesboro took a chance on a $5 scratch-off and won a $200,000 top prize.

Williams bought her lucky Mega Bucks ticket from the Marathon Food Center on U.S. 74 East in Polkton.

She arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $144,021.

The Mega Bucks game debuted in June with five top prizes of $200,000. Two $200,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

Congratulations to the winner for a big win on a low cost scratcher. It's a good advertising article for the lottery. The lottery sales must be dipping with all the raised costs of tickets causing more players to minimize their plays on rigged lotteries. Shame to the state lotteries and governments for allowing this sham under the guise of fair gameplay for charity. It ruins society.
