Raleigh man wins $1,138,307 Cash 5 jackpot

David Butler Jr. of Raleigh took a chance on a $1 Cash 5 ticket and won the $1,138,307 jackpot in Friday’s drawing.

He bought his lucky ticket at the Food Lion on Strickland Road in Raleigh.

Butler selected Quick Pick and matched all five white balls. The odds of that happening are 1 in 962,598.

He came to the lottery headquarters on Monday to claim his prize. After state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $819,695.

The next Cash 5 drawing is on Monday. The jackpot currently sits at $120,000.

Hi Kenny! Apologies for the confusion. None of the terminals are pre-loaded with specific combination possibilities. All terminals at any location/retailer can draw any combination possible. There is not set number of combinations given to each terminal.

Congratulations to Mr.Butler. Quick question for nclottery. Does each terminal at every retailer have 962,598 different combinations programmed in them or maybe 10k at one store and another 10k at another? Also same question towards the Mega Millions and Powerball. Just an honest question. Thanks NC Lottery
Hi Kenny! The combinations/numbers are generated randomly, no matter where the terminal is located. Same with the Powerball and Mega Millions drawing.
